The Ramadan Engagement
We do not wait until the first day of Shawwāl to prepare for Eid. The sweets are ordered earlier, the garments are tailored earlier, the home is readied earlier. Ramaḍān deserves even greater preparation. If we wait for it to arrive before we begin, we risk missing the depth of its blessings.
Before the month arrives, let us slow down and sit honestly with ourselves. Let us realign our hearts and prepare not only our schedules, but our intentions. Preparation is not about waiting for the crescent and then entering the fast simply because it is obligatory.
It is about entering the month conscious.
There is a difference between fasting because the calendar says so, and fasting because you know what you are seeking from Allāh. There is a difference between completing an act and being transformed by it.
Ramaḍān is not something we stumble into. It is something we walk into with purpose. With awareness. With longing to return.
Let us reach the month before it reaches us, so that when the first night falls, our hearts are already present.
For this reason, Revamp has been hosting The Ramaḍān School annually in Shaʿbān, to help us realign our connection with Ramaḍān and discipline our souls and bodies before the sacred month begins.
This year, we are honored to have Shaykh Amin Buxton, and Ustaz Anwar Hussain guiding us in deepening our engagement with Ramadan.
