Opening Intention for Gatherings

الْفَاتِحَةُ، أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَفْتَحُ قُـلُوبَنَا، وَيُصْلِحُ نِيَّاتِنَا وَمَقَاصِدَنَا، وَيَجْعَلُ فِي هٰذَا الْمَجْلِسِ الصِّدْقَ وَالإِخْلَاصَ وَالرَّحْمَةَ

نَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ هٰذَا اللِّقَاءَ سَبَـبًا لِلْهِدَايَةِ وَالْوُضُوحِ وَالنَّـفْعِ، وَأَنْ يَجْعَلَ فِيهِ الْخَـيْـرَ وَالْبَـرَكَةَ

وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَـفْتَحُ لَنَا فَـتْحًا مِنْ عِنْدِهِ، وَيُنَـزِّلُ عَلَيْـنَا نُورًا مِنْ نُورِهِ، وَيُـنْزِلُ عَلَى قُـلُوبِنَا رَحْمَتَهُ

وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَشْرَحُ صُدُورَنَا، وَيُـيَسِّرُ أُمُورَنَا، وَيُلْهِمُنَا الصِّدْقَ وَالإِخْلَاصَ فِي أَقْـوَالِنَا وَأَعْمَالِنَا

نَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْمَعَنَا عَلَيْهِ، وَأَنْ لَا يَجْعَلَ فِي هٰذَا الْمَجْلِسِ حَظًّا لِلنَّـفْسِ، وَأَنْ لَا يَجْعَلَ فِيهِ شَيْـئًا لِغَيْرِهِ، وَأَنْ يَجْعَلَ هٰذَا مَجْلِسَ ذِكْرًا وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً، خَالِصًا لِوَجْهِهِ

.اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْـنَا صِدْقَ الإِقْـبَالِ وَكَمَالَ الْقَبُولِ

وَعَلَى هٰذِهِ النِّـيَّـةِ، وَكُلِّ نِـيَّـةٍ صَالِحَةٍ، وَإِلَى حَضْرَةِ النَّبِيِّ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ، الْفَاتِحَةُ

Transliteration

Al-Fātiḥah, anna allāha yaftaḥu qulūbanā,
wa yuṣliḥu niyyātinā wa maqāṣidanā,
wa yaj‘alu fī hāżal-majlis aṣ-ṣidqa wal-ikhlāṣa war-raḥmah.

Nas’alullāha an yaj‘ala hāżal-liqā’a sababan lil-hidāyah wal-wuḍūḥ wan-naf‘,
wa an yaj‘ala fīhil-khayra wal-barakah.

Wa annallāha yaftaḥu lanā fatḥan min ‘indih,
wa yunazzilu ‘alaynā nūran min nūrih,
wa yunzilu ‘alā qulūbinā raḥmatah.

Wa annallāha yashraḥu ṣudūranā,
wa yuyassiru umūranā,
wa yulhimunā aṣ-ṣidqa wal-ikhlāṣa fī aqwālinā wa a‘mālinā.

Nas’alullāha an yajma’nā ‘alayh,
wa an lā yaj‘ala fī hāżal-majlis ḥaẓẓan lin-nafs,
wa an lā yaj‘ala fīhi shay’an lighayrih,
wa an yaj‘ala hāżā majlisa żikran wa hudan wa raḥmah, khāliṣan li-wajhih.

Allāhummar-zuqnā ṣidqal-iqbāl wa kamālal-qabūl.

Allāhumma ‘allimnā mā yanfa‘unā,
wanfa‘nā bimā ‘allamtanā,
wa zidnā qurban minka wa ma‘rifatan bik.

Wa ‘alā hāżihin-niyyah, wa kulli niyyatin ṣāliḥah,
wa ilā ḥaḍratin-nabiyyi Muḥammadin ﷺ, Al-Fātiḥah.

Translation

We recite al-Fātiḥah with the intention that Allāh opens our hearts, rectifies our intentions and aims, and places truth, sincerity, and mercy in this gathering.

We ask Allāh to make this meeting a means of guidance, clarity, and benefit, and to place within it goodness and blessing.

And that Allāh grants us an opening from His presence, sends down upon us light from His light, and pours His mercy into our hearts.

And that Allāh expands our hearts, makes our affairs easy, and inspires us with truthfulness and sincerity in our words and actions.

We ask Allāh to gather us for Him alone, not to place in this gathering any share for the ego, nor anything for other than Him, and to make it a gathering of remembrance, guidance, and mercy, purely for His sake.

O Allāh, grant us sincere turning to You and complete acceptance.

O Allāh, teach us what benefits us, benefit us with what You have taught us, and increase us in closeness to You and true knowledge of You.

With this intention, and every righteous intention, and in honour of the presence of the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, Al-Fātiḥah.
