What is the difference between Qurban, Aqiqah and Nazar?

Qurban

Qurban is the act of offering an animal to be slaughtered as a sacrifice (Qurban) specifically on ‘Eidul Adha which falls on the 10th of Zulhijjah, and the three days that follow it - 11th, 12th and 13th of Zulhijjah. The first slaughter is done after the ‘Eid prayer and the last slaughter before Maghrib of 13th Zulhijjah.

Aqiqah

Aqiqah is defined as the sacrifice of an animal on the occasion of a child’s birth. It should be done by the parents or guardians of the child as an announcement of the newborn into the world, and as an expression of gratitude for the blessing they received. Rasulullah ﷺ said: “Slaughter two similar sheep for a male newborn, and one for a female. (Narrated by Ahmad and Tirmizi). However one will suffice for male newborn if the parents or guardians cannot afford two.

Nazar

Nazar is the act of swearing an oath in the name of Allah. For example, as an illustration, someone makes a statement, “O Allah, if you make me pass my exams, I will sacrifice a sheep for Your sake.” This person will then be obliged to fulfill his promise if he actually passes his exams. And it is obligatory for him to giveaway all the meat and not keep any for himself.
